Molly Colleen O'Connell (b. 1986, FL) is a Chicago-based artist whose work mixes unbelievable truths and strange fictions to create a world of perverted feminist hallucinations. Digging her fingernails into themes such as the Florida Woman, the spectacle of a woman in pain, and the sexy clown; she pushes the viewer's level of discomfort and ability to laugh. She promotes a contemporary feminism that embraces the grotesque and the vulgar, as it is vital for women to obliterate the parameters of obscenity. She has an upcoming solo show at Julius Caesar (Chicago). Her work has also been exhibited at AALA Gallery (Los Angeles), Evening Hours (New York), Waiting Room Gallery (Tokyo), MOHS Exhibit (Copenhagen), and sophiajacob (Baltimore).
